With many expectations, accumulated from your childhood years, as you going uphill you lose from your horizon the blue of the sea and the route narrows from the mountain peaks, which constantly emerge denser, greener, higher.
This is where the challenge of the mountain begins, which constantly invites you to conquer it!
Where the mountain ranges decide and while you proceed with the anticipation of your first ascent, suddenly you are welcomed by the monastery of the Great Cave nestled in the rock for almost 17 centuries and you exclaim ... so beautiful! The hostess Panagia, enthroned there since 362, stands the beginning of the myriochronous history of our place.
Deep in the gorge, you will hear the echo of the Odondotos, which for 120 years now has been going up and down uncomplainingly its own historical narrowness, under the watchful eye and the divine love of Megalospilaiotissa.
Skiing - Snowboard
... Let's enjoy the winter costume ... let us wander in the vastness of whiteness ...
Here, in the monastery's guesthouse, which appears impressively at the edge of the rock, the car manufacturer Henry Ford, the scholar of Kerameikos, Edward Everett, Nikos Kazantzakis, Angelos Sikelianos and many other great personalities were hosted.
With the company of the Odondotos on your right and through the plane trees rooted in the waters of Vouraikos, you emerge into the clearing, the plateau of Kalavrita. You are there!
You are welcomed by the historic building of the Odondotos, the station, a work of Charilaos Trikoupis in 1896, and the historic building of the Primary School, donated by Andreas Syggros, which today houses the Municipal Museum of the Kalavrita Holocaust of December 13, 1943.
The road sign on the corner unwittingly summarizes and suggests to the visitor routes in the past and today!
East, Place of Execution, Ski Center, Temple of Artemis Hemerasias, Tower of Petimezaion, Caves of the Lakes, Planitero, Ancient Kleitoras, Ladonas, Tripoli.

Dozens of beautiful hidden villages you will discover along the route, with few now, but hospitable residents and very important, folk, architectural elements, mansions and churches that have been standing for centuries.
Religious monuments
Faith took refuge in the mountains, and art with rare excellences sheltered it ...
The first detailed description of the area is given by Pausanias, followed by important travelers such as Everett, rector of Harvard and personal advisor to President Abraham Lincoln, around 1845. He was impressed by the beauty of the stone-built town of Kalavrita and the hospitality of its inhabitants.
After the total destruction of Kalavrita by the Nazis in 1943, the aesthetic of the town's architecture was unfortunately lost and today it is completely modern. Little is left.
