The village is built at an altitude of 840m., green, with many trees, mainly walnut, apple, cherry, fig, and rich orchards. A beautiful village, with many waters and plane trees at their sources. In the village is the central fountain with three spouts and the Stupathi fountain with two spouts. In the middle of the village is the house of the chieftain Ioannis Papadopoulos or Mourtogiannis, which is well preserved. This mansion belongs to the village and the municipality.
The chieftain of our village took part in the meeting of Vostitsa (Aigio) on 23/1/1821, as well as in Agia Lavra during the feast of Agios Alexios, on 17/3/1821, where the decision of the Revolution was taken. The agitator and rich at that time, John Papadopoulos lent 100,000 groats for the equipment of the Revolution. Kolokotronis and his entourage stayed here overnight to consult with the chieftains.
In 1940, 45 villagers participated in the Albanian and German-Italian war, and fortunately all of them returned to the village unharmed. Their names are inscribed on a commemorative plaque inside the building. Several of them also took part in the National Resistance.
The international path E4 where Greek and European mountaineers and hikers pass and walk goes through Agios Nikolaos. Finally, an effort is being made to build accommodation facilities for tourists-visitors.
