Mikro Pontias

The settlements of Mikro Pontias, Megalos Pontias, Lobokas, Karousi and Georgeka belong to the Local District of Mikro Pontias.

Mikro Pontias

It was recognized as a settlement in South Achaia with less than three hundred inhabitants by the Government Decree 3/18.8.1912, Government Gazette. 256/1912. In 1889 it had 95 inhabitants, in 1920 219, in 1940 212, in 1951 211, in 1961 189, in 1971 106, in 1981 120 and in 1991 109 inhabitants. It is located at an altitude of 820 m. The name of the village is connected with the Slavic word Vodia or Voda which means water, water place.

Megalos Pontias

It was recognized as a settlement in South Achaia with less than three hundred inhabitants but there is a school with the NW. 3/18.8.1912, FEK. 256/1912. In 1889 it had 176 inhabitants, in 1920 176, in 1940 266, in 1951 244, in 1961 182, in 1971 171, in 1981 158 and in 1991 137. It is located at an altitude of 740m. The inhabitants are mainly farmers and stockbreeders. Also, source says that in 1851 the village had 61 families with 350 inhabitants.
